About

Welcome to the edge.  It is where we teach to learn.  As a K-12 math coach, I get to hang out on the edge with some really reflective teachers who are open to learning about math and teaching.  In our math classes, we try to push students to the edge of their understanding.  We also push each other to the edge of our understandings.

I hope you will join us.  The purpose of this blog is to create a community of collective “edge pushers.”  Let’s explore together. I will post excerpts from lessons where teachers and students arrive at the edge of what they understand.  I invite you to comment – what do you notice?  What would you do next?  How would you push the edge?

Come to the edge.
We might fall.
Come to the edge.
It’s too high!
COME TO THE EDGE!
And they came,
and he pushed,
and they flew.
